Propaganda

Write at least two to three paragraphs detailing your video/web/visual/textual choices. Which techniques did you employ? Were these intentional? Who was you audience? What was your goal. Please cite your sources.

For this project I choose to make a propaganda poster. I sourced my images from the internet and work with Procreate and Photoshop to preform edits. I used Procreate specifically for changing the background images red and using the liquidate tool to distort the the image as a whole. Every edit I made was intentional to contribute to the conceptual ideas of this project. Some examples of conscious edits include: the red color, the swirl of the face, the liquidation of the casino and the tribal member, and capitol with "equal justice under law" being highlighted.

The audience I hope to speak to with this project is both Native and Non Native folks. I hope that my message is universally comprehendible though it may be better understood by a Native audience (specifically those who have been disenrolled). Ultimately, this project speaks to Tribal disenrollment and the corruption amongst Tribal and US government. Through sovereignty, tribal governments, have the right to govern their own people. However, the federal government still has an obligation to provide education and healthcare to Native Americans, amongst countless other responsibilities, as a result of treaty agreements. This is where my project can be interpreted on different levels- the broadest idea being that regardless of why disenrollment happens it is wrong, and the Federal government refuses to step in and assist because they know that eventually we will have erased and assimilated the majority of Natives left into American society. When tribal government becomes a single family profiting off of the government and casinos, it would not be surprising if sovereignty is revoked and Native culture truly ceases to exist in modern day.

Both guided by the pursuit of capitalism,
